Last week, the 2025 Fingal Sport Awards shone a spotlight on the incredible contributions of 82 volunteers across sports clubs in the county, while also celebrating clubs’ efforts in green initiatives, inclusivity, and community engagement. 🏆 Among these dedicated individuals, one volunteer truly stands out—Jim Leen.

Jim has been an exceptionally committed juvenile handball coach at St Brigid's GAA Club for many years. Completely selfless and endlessly patient, he creates a fun, safe, and welcoming environment where children thrive. A unifier, he is highly respected by peers, parents, and players alike.
Thanks to Jim’s outstanding efforts, alongside his fellow mentors, handball participation at the club has grown significantly, with players aged 6 to 17 not only enjoying the sport but also achieving success at Dublin, Leinster, and All-Ireland levels. His coaching journey began when his own children were juveniles, yet despite them now being adults, he continues to lead sessions during the week and at weekends for the benefit of all involved.
His dedication has strengthened the juvenile section, welcoming not just St Brigid’s members but also young players from other Dublin 15 clubs. He has also extended his coaching expertise to the recently formed and highly successful Mothers and Others Group, supported by Fingal. Most recently, Jim organised a fantastic end-of-year celebration for the juveniles, including awards to recognize their achievements.
