St. Brigid’s were delighted to welcome the Dillon Quirke Foundation to Russell Park last Thursday for Cardiac Screening to juvenile members.

The Dillon Quirke Foundation is a charity that was established in memory of Dillon Quirke, a 24-year-old Tipperary Hurler who tragically died from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) in August 2022 while playing a Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship game in Semple Stadium for his club Clonoulty-Rossmore. The foundation’s primary goal is to prevent sudden cardiac deaths amongst young athletes by identifying underlying heart conditions through early screening. Since it’s inception, the foundation has conducted over 10,000 free cardiac screenings nationwide, with 243 individuals referred for further cardiology tests.

We had Advanced Medical Services on site, who provided professional cardiac screening to over 40 of our juvenile members from 8am til 5pm.

Thanks to the Dillon Quirke Foundation and Advanced Medical Services for providing this service to our club members, funded by donations to the charity.
