Last weekend, St. Brigid's had five entries representing Dublin in the Leinster Handball Juvenile Finals.
Lauren played in the U13 final. After a very close second game, she was defeated by a strong Kilkenny player. This game could have gone either way, and Lauren should be proud of a great performance.
In the U14 final, Aoife put in a very brave performance against a very talented handballer from Kilkenny. However, it wasn't to be as the experience of the Kilkenny player was too much. Nonetheless, Aoife should proud of her performance and showed great courage. It was a great achievement for both Lauren and Aoife on reaching a provincial final.
Sophie contested the final of the girls U15 competition. She put in a near flawless performance against her Kilkenny opponent and oozed class in doing so, winning in two straight games.
Not to be outdone, Ciara also defeated her opponent in two straight games. She put in a power performance against her Kilkenny opponent, winning in great style.
Finally, Daragh gave a masterclass in handball where he took control of the game against a very good Kilkenny player, who he defeated in two straight games.
We are very proud of these players and all the players who entered the Leinster championships who represented their club and county with great pride.
Abbie, Jessica, Ava and Sophie were narrowly beaten in tiebreaker, and just missed out on making the finals.
It's worth nothing that St. Brigid's was one of the most successful clubs at the weekend’s Leinster finals and it's a great reflection on the work of all those involved - the juvenile players, parents and coaches.
Sophie, Ciara and Daragh now go on to play in the All-Ireland series and we wish them the very best of luck.
