A fantastic night for our Junior Camogie team, who were crowned Division 3 Shield Champions after a thrilling 2-5 to 2-4 victory in Lucan on Tuesday Night this week. 

Played under the lights on the main pitch, it was a hard-fought contest from start to finish. Brigid’s went into the half-time break leading 0-4 to 0-1, but the second half brought a huge challenge, with the team finding themselves three points behind with just seven minutes remaining.

What followed showed the heart and character of this group. They dug deep, fought their way back into the game and edged ahead, with Shauna O’Sullivan firing over the winning point to secure a memorable one-point victory.

Captain Sinead Egan led the team out, but on the night there were leaders all over the pitch. Lorraine Mulgrew, Siobhán Cahill and Zoe Mayne delivered outstanding performances, while Sorcha O’Keefe contributed some excellent scores from placed balls.

Huge credit also goes to the management team of Michael Littleton, alongside player-coaches Sorcha Power and Hannah Barrett, and to the entire panel for a brilliant team effort.

A special mention too for the photograph of both teams together before the game. It perfectly reflects the spirit in which both clubs approach camogie — with inclusion, enjoyment and a shared love of the game at its heart.
